I was all set on buying a new Grande 1.9 sporting to replace my 8v punto,
but on a trip to get the punto serviced we spotted a Seat garage and popped in for a look,
WOW they had the new FR range and I,m now gonna go for a Seat Leon,
2.0t FSI 200 ps or the 2.0 fsi 150 ps or the 2.0 tdi 140ps wow what a choice and it looks fukin great.
and not much more that the Grande.

Also it's a VW engine and gearbox so should be well built.
Sorry boys be leavin behind soon 2.0 t fsi 0-62 7.3 secs 142 mph.
Cruse control, Etc Etc

I think the Seat Leon FR looks great! Have fun.;)

I looked at the leon, i love the way it looks but think theyve kinda ruined it with the FR's bumpers. If i were to have bought one it would have been the 2 litre TD sport. I wasn't too impressed with the interior on it though either, the seats in the sport are awesome, but the dash and centre console were to flimsy you could even wobble the centre console around! Not what i expected from something thats meant to have VW quality

The prices are quite a lot higher than the grande puntos too:
£17k for the petrol
£17500 for the diesel
Where as the GP sporting is around £12-13k

Plus look at the insurance groups on it...
Group 12 for the diesel and group 14 for the petrol, were both a bit too high for me at 19 years old

I looked in quite a bit of depth at this car, i think it looked great and if it wasnt for the grande punto coming out i think id have a leon on my drive way at the moment, but i just didnt feel the same way about it as i did with the GP  and the extra costs didnt really seem to add up for me!

Good choice though :)
much more interesting car than a focus, golf, astra etc...

Don't bet on VW quality being what it's cracked up to be - go and look at the most recent customer satisfaction surveys and you'll see what I mean. VW have got very complacent in recent years, electrical problems are commonplace and even the Golf is of flimsy construction inside these days, at least in comparison to the previous model.

And don't look under VW either - the Leon is not a Golf. It is built in a different country, from different materials.

Whatever, it is a good looking car that's for sure - which is more than can be said for the rest of the Seat range. You could say the same thing when comparing the Grande Punto to the rest of the Fiat range though.

You might want to wait a bit longer and save a bit more.... whilst I was in Spain a couple of weeks ago I spotted a few new Leons with the 3.2 V6 from the Golf R32. I read that they will be out here soon.

SEAT....!!!!

Oh man,...sorry but.....(n)

I will only give u one example that says all.....

In Italy......mostly you find Fiats everywhere....

In Germany.....BMW, Mercedes, Audi.....

In France.....Renault,Peugeot,Citroen,.....

In Spain.....???? The Seats are the big minority!!!!!!

Even the Spanish people don't buy them,.......also spoken with many of them during my last visit there.......they say: Never buy a seat.......

Have a good fun with your new car,...but remember the above in the future,....just friendly advise(y)

VW Engine & Gearbox != Reliable

My father in Laws new Golf needed a new box after 1500 miles! And the Polo 1.2 I drove for a week last year had horible virbations that rocked the car at idle. And almost all VAG diesels I have the misfortune to follow excrete excessive soot from the exhaust. VW aren't what they used to be - but good luck with Leon

what a load of crap! I know for a fact ford have a bigger market market share than BMW in Germany and have for many years

Can i see facts and figures which back up these above statements?

Visit all these countries,....and check!

Because the statistics does not say always the truth......

I had a Seat Leon Cupra, nice car but not very reliable and the aftersales service is terrible. If you've got to get one then get a diesel as the petrol lumps are very thirsty.

I don't think it's a load of crap, seems a bit of a bold statement. I've seen no figures, but when I go to Germany, the first thing that I realise is most the cars are German. Even my friend made a comment about the majority of cars being German and he's no petrol head! Perhaps you are referring to new car sales. I also noticed when I stayed on the French/Italian border, the vast majority of cars where either French or Italian (new cars and old cars). It seems England is the only country where we don't buy our own brands of cars, but it's not like we have much choice is it, not everyone can afford or would want a Morgan.

wow that was close, you nearly ended up with a GP, lucky you you've got a much better car instead. the leon FR is twice as good as anything fiat has ever made, anyone who disagrees obviously hasnt been to a seat garage lately. dont worry about the extra it costs you'll save that much in the first year due to less depreciation. i'd have a leon FR anyday. i'd go for the 140ps diesel, its so much more affordable in the long run. have a look at the zenith grey metallic colour, its perfect.

The thing above about there not being many Seats in Spain is not true in my experience.

They are everywhere, including Marbellas (and Seat Pandas)!

However, not even Spaniards are buying the new Toledo.

There are however, Fiats everywhere in Italy.

As for Fords in Germany.... well, Ford is one of their national brands. Buying a Ford in Germany is as patriotic as buying a Mercedes.

Buying a Ford in the UK has not been patriotic since 2002, when they shut down the last Ford plant (unless you include commercial vehicles).

I'd look into the those depreciation figures a bit more  .....got offered the 2 litre diesel sport (what has now been replaced by the FR diesel which wasnt out at the time may i add!) 5 months old for £13k! thats a lot of money for it to have lost in 5 months! The new leon its self isnt really a big seller either....

I'm not disagreeing and saying its a bad car, cause i looked at it my self and i like it alot. But to say its twice as good as something fiat ever made is a bit too much! Its quite obvious you dont like the GP, so i wouldnt expect a great post from you anyway.

Obviously you prefer the leon to the GP, but it dont mean everyone will....I personally think they ruined the car with the FR id rather had it as the sport without those god awful bumpers! Overall though i prefer the GP and yes ive been to the Seat garage! :p

I'm ashamed not sticking with Fiat Punto as I love my Punto, It's just the Grande is just not as good looking as the Leon,

I'm probably gonna go for the 2.0l tdi sporting instead of the FR, And there knocking £2000 off at the moment,

I also like the Altea looks wicked as a sporting but they only do the 1.9 deisal and not the 2.0.
aw still can't make up me mind,
I'm gonna test drive the Leon i'll let you know how it feels.
Keith.

i do kind of agree with the FR bumper comments, they are a bit over the top, but its a small price to pay for the rest of the FR bits. the sport is still an excellent choice, but sitting in the FR makes you feel a bit more special.

i dont hate the GP, i just havent got over the dissapointment of it yet. i'm sure it will grow on me once i get used to it, and once more corsa's/107's sell so i can compare them on the road side by side. (although i'll need good eyesight to tell the difference)
