Any thoughts about either a tuning box, a good digital from Tunit probably, or a remap?
A remap seems to get good reports, but only a fool would'nt be able to teel the difference between 130bhp standard Sporting and around 160 plus surely, I'm worried about even a normal road test giving the game away to my Dealer and screwing my warranty.lets face the strong possibilty that any mechanic who spends a large percentage of his week driving various Fiats is going to sus that its a bit more than "just a good un"
I have read a lot of forum entries and quotes from various remapping companies that even the Dealers computer can't tell its a remao, its only replacing software etc, but I feel that if suspicions are raised whats to stop them digging deeper till they find what they are lookin for!
At least a tuning box is removeable, sneaky I know, but would the possibility of slightly less power, a tad less driveability etc not be worth it to safeguard that 3 year warranty?

i think with a tuning box you will be lucky to see gains of 25bhp as most of them just override the settings to cold start up - but like you i would like to be able to remove when i vistit my dealer.
I have read of some dealers who reinstall existing maps if they detect a remap - but they can not find them with their normal diagnostic tool - obviously driving the car would give it away.
There is a good forum called tdisport.com - VW based but there are lots of people on there who have bought the tuning boxes then had a remap after. Also reviews of most of the big companys remapping if you search.

I went through this a week or two ago. Stilo JTD with an Angeltuning remap. Car went in for some warranty work and there was a recall outstanding where the ECU needed an update. They couldn't tell the car had been re-mapped and got on with the warranty work as normal. They overwrote the remap without knowing but I couldn't really moan about it otherwise I would have given the game away. Anyway, Angeltuning re-mapped it free:)

A spanner with a heavy foot is more likely to keep his mouth shut unless he has the proof to show it's been re-mapped. and he can't.
