I dont own a Grande Punto but have herd there is a fault with the radiator fans motors not swiching on and off propley when engines over temp

That is the first time I hear that and if it's on all GP's there would be a lot of GP's broken right now. Mine works.

Been taking to a few Fiat machanics who work in the same dealership they have had up to 23 new grande puntos with same fault sorry didnt ask which model but i would get yours checked out

Well I work behind those closed doors & I have never heard of this fault, either from personal experience, from other technicians, from technical seminars, from Fiat field engineers or from Fiat technical department!

Amen!:D

You mean you havent had your head under the bonnet and your hands dirty you just fill out paper work in a fiat garage :) Time will tell just thought should tell whats happend up our fiat main dealer

No I dont work in a office,I have spent the last 19 years under bonnets of cars & a further 7 years under the bonnet of aircraft(if you know what I mean)......
Like I said to date I have never heard of such a problem nor has anyone informed me of such a problem. All I can think of is that there could be a 'batch' of cars with this problem but no reported cases to date.I trust this garage has repoerted this fault & filled out the required paperwork to Teseo?

3000 miles in, and the drivers door lock mechanism broke, so the door wouldnt stay shut (luckily it happened at home). Called the AA out, and they managed to bodge it shut so I could drive it to the dealer. Lock replaced under warranty, and all back to normal now.

Excellent service from the dealer, which I wasnt expecting after reading all the reports etc......(y)

I certainly can't fault my dealer, he has been faultless, it's the sub standard product that's the problem.

No cases of fans failing on Grande, I had a meeting with the top dealers in the south of england earlier this month and no cases were raised, and no information from Fiat and also no request from Fiat to monitor fan problems.

So I would say there was no problem.

All I can say is that I am now at 3000 miles and mine is still working fine. my wife does a daily slog of getting to the city centre of Leeds in the car every day (for comparison this is like driving around the centre of London but without the conjestion charge plus a greater number of people wave appologeticaly when they cut you up)

I also spent 6 hours driving to Gatwick airport the other day the hottest july day on record in the UK) with a peak indicated outside temp in the car of 44 degrees and @ over 30 all the way. I sat in traffic on the M25 with the aircon up full and she didn't miss a beat lots of more expensive cars on the hard shoulder i can tell you

Only one small problem so far (1500 km)....(one clip missing from the plastic inside the rear wheel arch...) otherwise all ok....

Paint is ok
Electrics ok
Door handles ok
engine ok
suspension ok
brakes ok (small squik,,....but is normal (all new cars do it)
gearbox ok
interior ok (glovebox of course not perfect matching but this is common to all,...and after all is working,....just not perfect match..)

I hope it stays that way...:worship:

I had the same problem. On both sides the clips were loose but I saw it before the fell out. They just needed to be pressed in.

Took my car to fiats, needs a new steering rack, guy recons it will be there in 2 days???????
BUT they may have to order it from italy.
Im not happy, my car is unroadworthy and thus my insurance is invalid.
Dealership were going to give me the car back not fixed until i pointed out that it would fail an MOT therefor its unroadworthy. They have loaned me a car from the forecourt for 1 week,,,, even though they recon 2 days for the steering rack to be in.????
After then he recons hes going to get me a hire car for 6 weeks, so i duno what happened to the 2 days delivery and fitting????
Going throught Fiat uk, and trading standards to find out if i can get rid. Trading standards quote
"It is an offence for a supplier to sell you goods – whether new or second-hand – unless they are safe. But this does not apply to antiques or to goods needing repair or reconditioning, provided you were clearly informed of this fact.

If you believe you have bought unsafe goods, you should contact the trading standards department of your local authority. Trading standards phone numbers are listed in the phone book under the local council to whom you pay your council tax.

If new goods turn out to be unsafe you may have a legal claim against the manufacturer."

Asked the dealership to relace the vehicle for a like for like, as suggested by the finance company but he refused! He wanted me to chop it in at a £1500 loss....does he think im stupid or what.
When i asked him if the car was dangerous he got on the phone to the service people and asked them, he didnt reply....so i guess it could be dangerous. Said to him i was going to take the car for an MOT but he said that he would lend me a car, even if he had to hire one for me, so im guessing it cant not be dangerous.
Fed up with Fiat, especially Glyn Hopkin Buckhursthill!!!!!
