Exclamation Annoying passenger seat belt noise

I've had my New GP since Friday and am truley delighted with it so far except for one little thing. When the passenger seatbelt isn't being used, the buckle hits against the plastic sides when driving over bumps etc and really gives me a headache! There is a rubber bit stuck to the plastic, which I assume is to prevent this happening but it hangs below that and I find it incredibley stupid!!! Anyone else had this problem?

Re: Annoying passenger seat belt noise

No problems to report here.

Is this a 3 door or 5 door car?

It's a 3 door. I'm not saying it's a big problem it's just irritating and silly. Just wandering if other ones are the same or is it just mine?

No, I haven't noticed this on my car. I've had a similar problem on other cars in the past though, normally goes if you fiddle about with the buckle.

One thing I will say is that it is one hell of a LONG way to reach back behind you to get the seat belt! I find myself putting my head in the lap of my passenger every time I have to buckle up!

As for the seat belt clattering against the side, what can you say, it's a Fiat, it costs very little money. If you want the equivalent to the Sporting MJET in the VW Polo range you're looking at 15k for a 130 TDi Sport, thats 3k over the GP.

Fiat make soulful exciting cheap little cars, you have to put up with little bits of cheapness, as they are a bargain. You should see my glovebox on the GP, it's possibly the cheapest thing this side of a Rover. Would I swap it for the VW Polo/Fabia/Ibiza 130TDi if it was the same price? Not a chance

It's nothing to do with cheapness though it's just plain sillyness! Why not place the rubber bit a few inches lower and it would be OK? Agree with you about the glovebox too. So far, anything I have tried to put in it would not fit! Your lucky if you can fit a credit card in the side pockets too but still I would not swap it for any of the above

Vinalhogger You cant move the rubber its on 2X rubber spikes that press into 2X holes in the door trim.

I recon its more to do with who made the seatbelt and the location of the plastic rivet which stops the buckle from dropping to the bottom of the belt.

Probably one of those production line friday afternoon blunders and some one who cocked up by driving the rivet in a couple of inches too high / low.

Mine is Ok

Re: Annoying passenger seat belt noise

Just figured it out! Somehow my buckle was facing the wrong way and was beating against the side quite loudly and annoyingly, but have now twisted it back round the right way and all is well. Like you say, just a silly Friday afternoon blunder so now I am happy!

Re: Annoying passenger seat belt noise

I thought it might be something like this. It happens from time to time.

What does "sig available" mean?

They found your post amusing for what ever reason, so someone could quote it in their signature on their posts
