Punto Active Sport 1.4

Hello All. Long time reader first time threader!

Has anyone got any pictures of the center console of the Active Sport 1.4?Am loving the new Grande Punto and am thinking of upgrading my old school 1996 Punto 55 SX. Would love to get the higher spec GP but lack of funds put an end to that!

Weird request i know but have seen pics for the one on the higher spec models and they all look cool. Just wanted to see if they've downgraded on the lower specifications!

Thanks for the help!

Rock on!:slayer:

I'm afraid to say the Active Sport's interior is, well... pants actually. The dash looks pretty cool but the seats are just black with little white dots on it. Very very boring. I've ordered a 1.4 Dynamic which has a far nicer interior, although it doesn't have the nice side-skirts, spoiler, fog-lights and MP3 player that the Active Sport has. If I was buying new I would have gone for the Active Sport (£300 cheaper) despite the pants interior but as I was offered a demo car Dynamic with nice interior so went for that and got skirts and spoiler on separately and it comes to about the same price as a new Active Sport!

Shame I don't have front fogs and MP3 player but you can't have everything!!

I'll post if I find any pics

Active/Active Sport interior is almost identical save for the seats. The centre console looks no different to any other model in the range, except instead of getting a wishy washy baby blue, or dull old man brown/beige insert, you get a so called 'neutral' insert (which is in truth plain old grey).

I wrestled so much with whether to get a Dynamic with either one of two colours (let's forget the orange, shall we?!) I didn't like, that I bought an Active instead.

With the Dynamic, I thought the seats and door panels looked great in blue, but the dash was just too insipid. The orange reminded me of the Bond Bug from 1970 and was immediately discounted, and the grey/beige was just too miserable and looked like it was already dirty.

And I wanted a red one, so it had to be the miserable seats/dash/door combo in Dynamic spec. Hence the Active.

I went for the blue interior in my New Orleans blue Dynamic. The seats look great I think but I think the dash will just take a little getting used to. I think the wheel trims on Active look pretty cool. Can easily be mistaken for alloys.

Good luck with your GP Alex

Thanks guys. I quite like the interior. i hate the seats with all them dimples and stuff in the garish colours that you get on the more expensive models. so the active sport seems the perfect choice. With the MP3 player can you attach Ipods and stuff or is it just MP3 Cds? Gorgeous Car, nice interior! one happy driver!

Better check some of the other threads for advice on MP3, etc - seems to have been some problems.

The MP3 player in the Active Sport I think just plays MP3 format CD's, not sure about Ipod compatibility.

Making up your mind on which GP to go for is so difficult - they're all so affordable, and every one has it's own appeal.

I almost signed for a 1.4 Dynamic, a 1.2 Dynamic, a 1.4 Active Sport before deciding just to have the Active.

I have to admit it may actually have come down to the colour of a plastic insert. Craziness!

Good luck!

I've been looking for a while at the GP. I think the Active Sport is the one for me! Obviously depending on what my dealer can offer me!!! The MP3 player sound good. Can get loadsa music on an MP3 CD anyway! and you dont have to carry your Ipod everywhere! Thanks for your help guys. Havent quite decided on the colour yet? Any opinions welcome.

Oh another quick question. Does the air conditioning effect the performance? I know my bros got a Corsa SXi and his air-con reduces the pull of his engine! Especially if going up hill! and i live in Linconshire, hills arent that steep!!! lol

Cheers

offtopic but Im gathering that isnt the base model SXI because they dont come with air con unless an added extra

I dont know about the performance being effected but fuel will be used u p quicker and the way petrol prices are going atm id wind your windows down instead :D

Hope you get a good GP (y)

The torqueyness of diesel engines makes a minimal difference to the fuel consumption, but small capacity petrol engines do suffer when the a/c is activated. The a/c compressor has a clutch so when it is not on it doesn't take any power.

Just don't turn it on if it bothers you, or turn it off when you need to make that traffic light dash :D

Aircon is more economical to run than windows down.

Does no-one watch Mythbusters?!

I watched Top Gear years ago and Clarkson mentioned how although a/c increased fuel consumption having your windows open was like "throwing £5 notes out the window" or something along those lines ;)

There's a good show called Mythbusters on Discovery where they put this to the test.

They drove two Ford Explorers around an oval track at the same speed, one with a/c on, the other with windows down.

The one with aircon kept going miles after the one with windows down ran out of petrol.

I hope I got this the right way round......!
