when i worked at bmw and people fitted leather after i think it never really looks as good as the factory....its a bit saggy..and its normally fitted by a de- motavated mechanic who is underpaid and don't give a toss.
i'm not saying allare like that its just my experience for working in garages all my life.

I think its because they wanted to get their April sales figures up they were willing to offer anything!

Yes - i've heard this with dealers before.... lying to your face just to get a sale.

I couldn't get too much taken off the car but I did get a few freebies chucked in like mas, full tank of diesel, locking petrol cap etc but the best part is they're giving me £6000 part exchange for my current car which is prob worth no more than £5000, I only paid £6400 for it 9 months ago!

By that comment I take it you either dont believe me or dont believe the man at Fiat?

Well before I pay for the car and sign anything I'll make sure I get it in writing, otherwise I'll wait and get one with leather.

thats a result then.
lets us know if the usb thingy is any good. i have an ipod and hope it supports it.

Yeh I'm hoping it works, I currently use an I-trip in my car at the mo which is ok but you have to change tracks on the ipod which is a pain. I was told by the dealer it will defo work so if it doesnt I wont be a happy bunny!!

I don't trust dealers one little bit - but to say that they will change your complete interior with brand new seats, door cards and airbags seems very suspect, let alone the few hours of labour that would entail. My Alfa dealer charges £80 p/h + vat labour. I presume it wouldn't be much different for the Punto.

What would they do with the old seats? Just throw them away as they couldn't re-sell them?

Have you seen the door cards in the GP? I wouldn't want them unscrewing those doors and refitting them only to find they didn't seal them properly and you have rust in the bottom after a couple of years.

It just seems very suspect for a dealer to offer this service. Has anyone else heard of this before?

I hope I am wrong, but i've seen the pressures these sales exec's are under sometimes. Do you watch The Apprentice? Seen that Syed on there? He'll lie his face off to get a sale.

I hope I am wrong, cos then I'll come to your dealers to have the same service, as I wanted leather too, but wouldn't wait for a factory build.

Easy way to find out, take a USB flash drive up to the dealer to test it. Now looking at the spec sheet on here the other day, it works with USB devices that a normal PC will see as a "mass storage device" Although iPods have this functionality, you can't play the same music you have synced from iTunes using this method so using extensive :)bang: ) experience in this field I would have to say that iPods don't work. Although, I hope i'm wrong :)

its a teflon polish that is applied to the paint work and gives it protection from minor scratches (very minor) bird lime... road salt etc...
its is good stuff but the dealers charge £300 for it....it takes a couple of hours to apply and only cost £30 for the kit which contains the special polish, (which only half to 3/4's is used), special shampoo that you have to use to clean the car with and some spray you use on the carpets and seats, (scotchguard, like when u buy a new carpet)
it is good stuff and helps you keep the car clean, but itsover priced and you really could do it yourself.

No no no, they wouldn't take my old stuff off of me, I'd be buying new seats, and doing it myself. Like I said I'll get it in writing to make sure.

And as far as I'm aware, its purely leather seats, not interior as in door cards etc aswell? Thats how I understood it? I'll find out for deffo.
