Just ordered mine and presuming I've made the right choice (was going for 90bhp Multijet before)! However, I haven't read any reviews on this engine yet although I'm guessing it goes some way to addressing the main criticism of the 1.4 77bhp, in that it will gather some pace when you put your foot down!

Has anyone seen any reviews yet, either in the UK or on the continent? If so, links please!

oh rite, just saw the 1.4 engine bit, and that sprung to mind.

Dont think there is a sporting one been reviewed yet, i havent found one using search.

Itll give a basic overview but just with 8v less :p :)

if you want 1.4 16v engine review, surely it will just be the same engine thats in the punto mk2 and mk2.5??

Exactly the same engine I had the mk2.5 1.4 16v Sporting and its a nice grunty high revving engine was enough to put a smile on your face. But as far as i'm aware the Grande has put on weight :( which is why I opted for the full fat sporting 1.9JTDm.

It's not actually the same engine. It's a new Euro IV compliant engine and they have called it Starjet and apparently it's only just available from today for ordering.

Finally, Fiat UK's Press Office have got their arse into gear and started promoting the new 1.4 16V 'Starjet' which suggests that production has started (about time!).

There's a small article on the new engine in the news pages of today's Autocar magazine. What's potentially exciting reading is that this engine is rumoured to be the basis of a new set of engines likely to power a proposed new Alfasud. Can't be bad if it's gonna be dropped in an Alfa :slayer:
