I have had an issue with faulty steering solved by fitting a new column but the warning light stayed on ,Auto tech guy did diagnostic (£40) and said my ABS showed the car moving while stood still so sensor was at fault .
After new ABS sensor fitted steering warning light remaind on so auto tech guy (£40) tried to clear it but steering warning light remains on new fault code ...
U1701 NCM NODE ON C-CAN
He told me it's my BCM (body control module) but was uncertain , can anyone help?:bang::confused:

When in doubt, always crawl back to basics: ground/earthing and fusebox corrosion. Plus charging (alternator) and battery condition.
Triple check: visual, mechanical, electrical (is there really a connection).

Then it's a ECU/BCM failure, power steering again (wrong version installed, faulty, not "proxy aligned" in software, modules can't talk to each other via CAN) or something like that. Installing new part and erasing errors is often not enough.

It looks that changing steering rack was useless step. Warning light was there also with previous steering rack. To me it really looks like comm issue between sensors inside electric steering box and ECU. You can try to disconnect both wirings from ECU, clean PINs and plug back, and the same for wiring into electric steering box

shes had reconditioned alternator all new belts and new battery ,new front coils, drop links. cv gators.recon power steering column (checked compatible) brake cables .ABS sensors ,discs and pads ,new Bosch wiper blades ,new alloys and tyers and service .
All connections and plugs checked iv had the body control modual off and circuits checked for signs of over heating or plug/pins damage .
Steering rack maybe?

I have a strange problem with my GP '06, when I start the car after its been sitting for a couple of hours the red warning light appears and when I turn the wheel a bit it turns off. What seems to be the cause of that problem ? Thanks in advance
