Hi all, hoping I'm not double posting...
I have a fiat punto 2006 and have yet another issue. ?
My horn started going off randomly whilst driving for about 2-3days, now it is constantly going off whenever I turn my engine on. It is currently unplugged but obviously it needs sorting, especially with my mot coming around.
My other issue is that my dimmed light is not turning on. No bulb warning light on the dash.
Main beam and indicators are fine.
From my research I have found a few things, mostly about taking the indicator rod apart and cleaning the connections, changing the clockspring or even the whole indicator stalk.
Now before I go ahead and replace them I'd like to ask if anybody has any insight on these issues.

Ageing Fiat wiring is pretty much legendary, I think you’re on the right track already, but arm yourself with a volt meter. You’ll probably find corrosion in some connections or dodgy earths. Best of luck.

the problem will most likely be in the fuse box and not the stalk, I also NEARLY bought a new stalk when i had lighting issues last year similar to this.

it sounds tricky, but quite easy to do

remove battery, undo fuse box to reveal its connections under neath, some of them will be corroded, clean them up and apply switch cleaner and dielectric grease

see my pics here of how to do it https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/486038-got-headlights-off-problem.html?p=4586338

my lights had a mind of their own, a new or even used stalk was out of reach price wise, but after initially messing about with headlight relays I had the idea that the problem might be under it. It was, the terminals were wet and corroded. I fixed them at almost no cost other than an hour of time and its been fine since.

edit to say: I was also having other problems that I didnt think were related, my rear parking sensors were going off randomly [in reverse], sometimes with ignition key out the heater fan was still moving slowly [possibly even going backwards] - and this drained the battery once, after cleaning the terminals in the fuse box these problems went away. So this is where you might be having your horn going off.

Hi

I am having the same issue on my Punto Grande 2007. Horn comes on constant. Headlight come on even though the light are turned off and the key is out of the ignition. I also had one occasion where the engine stayed on after turning the ignition off and removing the key! I have cleaned the stalk connector as previously mentioned which fixed the flickering lights which i had on occasion. I will try to have a look at the fuse box this weekend to see if i can find anything there. Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks
