Hi, I have this weird rubbing wear on my alternator belt, I have no idea what it is.
About a year ago my alternator pulley was bad so I thought that was it, after about 3 months with a new alternator and a new belt it looks the same.
My tensioner pulley looks fine and nothing looks out of place, what can be causing this?
Thanks

The tensioner is trying to seize, needs repalcement.

Alternatively, the tensioner is misaligned, or loose on its mounting.

How the hell didn't I see it.
The tensioner pulley is not parallel to the other pulleys but the belt doesn't fall off.
I tried adjusting it and setting the belt right but after starting it just goes to the same position.
I'm having it fixed tomorrow, might as well replace the whole thing.
Thanks for the quick help

Always easier when you have time to think. When one's own car breaks, emotion can get in the way of rational thought and diagnosis. Then the forum works well, as anyone helping does not have the mild panic from the broken car.
