Do any of you guys know when the Grande Punto is going to be released in the UK? I emailed FIAT but they don't seem to be very forthcoming with a date!

they won't be as I don't think they have finished the engine line up yet!! Still in arguments with GM.

They won't tell you what the date is, but I would guess Feb 2006? Which will quickly turn into June 2010 knowing Fiat's defination of quickly

Cool, that is when I thought it was going to be released. I have a Mk II Punto now, but I have been saving up for a new car for quite a while and the new Punto is what I have my sights set on!

Eh?

The UK launch engines are the same units they are currently selling in the recently released 'Punto Grande' in Italy; I'm not aware of any arguments over any of these motors as they are all 100% Fiat units...

1.2 8v 65bhp
1.4 8v 77bhp
1.3m-jet 75bhp
1.3m-jet 90bhp
1.9m-jet 120bhp
1.9m-jet 130bhp

I thought fiat and GM were arguing about who would get the big turbo unit? As AFAIK its not a fiat engine, but the rest are.


When did the mk1 come out? 1993?? and GT1's were on the scence by march 1994, so you shouldn't have to wait too long

Punto GT came to the UK in March 1994, the same as the rest of the introduction range. Some of the core models did arrive later in 1994 (75SX 3dr, 75 ELX 3dr, 90ELX 5dr, TD SX 3dr, D S 3dr and then the Sporting in early 1995 IIRC).

The grande has been released in ireland so I would have thought the UK would be the same just ordered mine so should have it mid january(atleast i hope i will)

The mk1 GT was introduced in 1994 along with the cabrio version. What Punto did you order StiloAlian?

I ended up choosing the 1.9jtd sporting kinda one (well it has a sport kit ) depending on avalability It will have leather aswell and the glass roof unless production is too slow for those!?! basicly it's the same as the orangie one in most reviews.... this one I just hope they don't let me down on the delivery date!!!

I'm wondering when they'll have a semi-auto launched... That's because my wife has taken to clutchless driving of small cars. I think the 90bhp Multijet would be good for her!

That looks a quality car! Not sure what colour I will go for, but I have been looking on the colour configurator thing on the Punto site and they have some nice shades. I reckon the dark blue with the sports kit would be nice!
