Hi,
My 2008 1.2 Grande Punto runs fine until the RH indicator is on (or hazards), then the fuel pump pulses on / off in unison with the indicators. This then brings a 'starter relay' fault up.

I have looked at wiring and grounding in the engine bay, checked all light clusters and tried removing all indicator bulbs but this makes it worse as the relay pulses faster and the car stalls and will not run.

Is the indicator relay part of the BSI module? Is it feasible with basic soldering skills to replace the relay assuming it is at fault?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Hi

Has this come on suddenly..
Not noticed any other oddness?

I believe the relay is built into the column switches

Try slackening the columns rake adjuster.. and move it through a few arcs

Wiring is well crammed in.. you might just get it improved

Stripped down the indicator / wiper cluster, no relays in there and the wiring is all small gauge so must switch a relay coil for the main indicator circuit elsewhere?

Any clues as to where the indicator relay is?

Could really use some help?

There is no relay for the indicators, assume this is part of the BSI?

More weirdness, the fuel pump and the electric windows (relay 13) both pulse on/off with the RH indicator?

Having problems starting occasionally too.

Are the pump, indicators and windows all related to the BSI?

Have you checked your battery terminal clamps where the thick wire is crimped in.
Plus the -ve battery wire can disintegrate under the insulation.

Is this the model that can suffer from water in the under bonnet fuse/relay/ecu box ?

It is more normal for the fuel pump to be turned on and off by a relay commanded by the engine ecu.

Agree fuel pump should be on ECU, maybe it has interface with the BSI for the ignition key? I am getting a starter relay fault on diagnostic.

If the starter relay and indicator relay are on the BSI circuit board the issue could be there?

As long as I don't use right indicator everything runs fine.

Anyone got a wiring diagram with the starter circuit / relay on?

Is your body computer under bonnet?
Wherever it is, is it damp?
All sorts of wierd faults with damp body ecus.

No tucked away in passenger side dash, not tried to extract it yet but all the looms and plugs look good and no damp.
