my car cut out a couple of times today while it was idling at traffic lights, and threw the engine light on too

hooked it to MES when I got home and its a water in fuel filter code, which I cleared

can water be drained from this type of fuel filter? there is a bleed screw on the top [I undone it when it was running, just looked like diesel came out of it], but nothing underneath except where the water sensor screws in

the filter

cheers for any advice

Sorry.. didnt see this earlier

levemircento

Older diesels has a sensor .. like our MJ's.. or a drain cock

So.. you can undo ( unscrew ) the sensor

But personally.. I would unscrew the filter itself and change the filter now also

Not daft money nowadays

My 1st mj had that light on.. it was a bad sensor..that measures fuel temp. Also ;)

I have a new filter ready to fit, just waiting for a day of decent weather and I will do all the filters at the same time

when I cleared the code, I also cracked the bleed screw on the top of the filter with engine at idle, some diesel came out possibly water too [I am not sure where the bleed screw takes liquid from - top or bottom of filter] but the problem hasnt happened since

I never botheted with the bleed screw at filter change

The GUIDE said it self.bleeds.. as the tank pump just keeps pushing and the excess returns to the tank

5 cycles of MAR priming and it ran perfectly.. (y)

(nothing like the airlock with the old mechanical injectors) :(
