Hi,
So the list of issues im working on and could do with some help on...

Rear wheel bearings.
changed one and now between 30-40mph it makes a weird noise.

Brake drum was rubbing but that seems to have stopped...
(thinking to replace drums and wheel bearings with all new parts)

Cold start/ stalling:
Car starts is abit rough in the cold. and then the engine stalls when starting to pull off. Its an auto box.(new battery and new alternator fitted)

Constant moaning on dash of a rear brake light out but actually isnt....

Gearbox runs smooth but can flash up error somones, usually after a rough start and a short journey..

im looking to get multiscan ecu but not sure if that will help me find the engine issue or not.

Car is on 102000 miles and id like to keep it going but the issues keep coming. although it did fly through the mot with only 2 discoloured bulbs.

Any advice please :worship:

Does the glowplug yellow symbol come on for 5 to 10 seconds then go out.. no flashing?
Yes at pre start up. is that normal? the glow plugs havent been changed in the 25K ive done and not sure about before that.

The rear brake light.. and gearbox issues could well be related..odd as that sounds

Where are you based?
Kettering

The lit yellow coil symbol indicates power going to plugs.. so a good thing :)

It if it flashes after starting.. that indicates a fault

Smoke from exhaust after a cold start also indicates a fault

Kettering isnt somewhere I pass very often..

Or I would offer to help with diagnosis

Forgot to mention also on my list of repairs is the aircon pulley bearing..
squeaking like crazy at start up. plan to renew it. could this be leading to the engine stalling once in gear and trying to pull off ???

Pretty sure you are actually on two warm cylinders and 2 cold

This means its well down on power.. can run with no load.. but struggles to drag the car along until its built residual heat.. so the other cylinders add power..rather than robbing it

I checked glow plugs with ohm meter and they seemed fine. Its not a huge cost to replace them but is there any other way to check them?? Might explain as well why in winter it sucks so badly and in the summer its a completely different car.

Ill replace them at the weekend. Any advice for removing the old ones???

So this weekend tested glow plugs. but noticed what looks like fuel pressure regulator below the high pressure pump is coated in a diesel oil mix as if the seal has gone bad. Senor is coated all over on the outside.

Would this be causing the cold start/ pull away issues.

My 1st thing there would be unplug the wiring.. give it a flush trough with an aerosol cleaner.. recouple..and see if it runs better

Personally I doubt it.. but easy to check

Ive taken the plunge and picked up Multiecuscan package from gendan.

Hopes are that once im connected to the engine i can whats going wrong.

Connected to engine today. believe the issue is fuel pressure related. Engine fails to hold fuel pressure almost straight away after key turned off.

Brake light. back left has an open circuit.
Gear box has a code p1772-1d oil level?

random intermittent airbag code.

Some of the values for fuel pressure.

Pressure regulator opening (MPROP) Fuel pressure
BAR
Desired fuel pressure
BAR

22.28 272 282 0.995 56 282 0.999 10 282 1.004 10 282

Engine turned off and drops to 56 bar and quickly drops to 10 bar.

So the weekend just gone i went and rebuilt the high pressure pump and replaced the fuel pressure regulator.
Theres just enough room to remove the high pressure pump without removing anything else in the engine bay. I used long torx bits which helped.

Seal repair kit for Bosch CP1H and CP1H3 pumps £38.04

Amazon were the cheapest genuine regulator i could at £99
ref: 928400680

The leak appreared to be a common know fault on the 3rd section.
A small o ring that was no longer round but deformed. seen in pic 3. But the days before the engine light came on and a high pressure regulator code logged.

The whole process took around 4 hours very relaxed.

Repair list :
Brake lights sorted
Fuel pressure issue sorted
P1772 gear box error, to do.
Rear bearing, to do
Ac pulley bearing replacement bearing, to do.

Do the attched screenshot values seem within spec?
Im getting code p1772-1d occasional and also moving off from a cold start is becoming an issue stalling 4 times in a row recently.

Ive renewed the high pressure pump and Fuel pressure regulator as they were leaking and that has improved things slightly.

Posted in dualogic forum but had no reply.
The gear engagment position i thought should be 28mm-28.5mm?

Check the gear selector switches?
When engine fully warm does it still stall when starting from zero mph?

I'm thinking is it engine or dualogic fault.

Have you done a clutch relearn? You do have the MES , may be worth while.
