Hi,

So my air conditioning has recently stopped working on any setting. Previously it had only worked on setting 4. Whilst driving the air conditioning cut off however it started working briefly again the next time I started it, before then stopping working for good.

All the buttons and dials seem to be functional and I can hear it when I press the recirculation button. I have checked the fan in the passenger footwell and removed all debris from it and have also looked at the resistor and loom. While none of it looks like it has melted I haven’t got a multimeter to test the resistor. I have also checked the fuse under the bonnet and that has not blown.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi..
Only working on 4 points strongly at the resistor wiring plug

Try unplugging and checking the contacts

A£5 meter will be a sound investment if next phase involves £30 part.. or £60 garage visits

The aircon is a cooler and compressor corcuit..

Im 95% sure you are referring to the cabin fan

Climate systems are different again

Hi thanks for your reply. It did work only on setting 4 however is not working at all now after the fan being very loud for a few days.

Generally if working on setting 4 and that’s now stopped as well, what ever the case the resistor pack is likely buggered so I’d get a new one anyway Chuck that in and see if it fixes the problem. You’ve checked all the wiring you can also make sure as charlie describes that the fan works by running it off a direct supply.
