I was doing a long drive a few weeks ago which it didn't take kindly to! Firstly, and I presume the trigger of what followed, the undertray gave way - I pulled up, turned engine off to have a look, it was hanging down from the rear fixings. After zip-tying it back up, it wouldn't restart. Checking the engine bay, I could see coolant.
AA came out, fitted a new battery (was the original '09 in it still), tore the undertray off, topped coolant up which got me to where I needed. Presumably the coolant system went into meltdown and killed the battery... I was straight out to get some Radweld to get me back home, and that seems to have fixed the leak.

My problem is that whilst the car's running, it seems to have lost some power, and despite trying a few hard journeys, the radiator fan is never coming on, and it does seem to get up to temperature quicker than previous.
Relays and resistor for the fan seem fine. Put 12v direct to the fan and it worked, even replaced expansion tank lid incase that had failed. Anyone had similar issues? Close to replacing thermostat and/or waterpump.

Hi

Im guessing its a petrol?

Warming quicker than before.. not always a good sign

The thermostat should STOP coolant flowing to the Rad until warm enough to show on temp gauge

Feel the hoses as it warms..

Should stay cold...for minutes... then get HOT in a matter of seconds ( as the thermostat opens)

Take your car to a mechanic quickly because radweld may cause issues within the cooling system. Also initially the water pump may have become faulty. If it was indeed leaking, it needs to be replaced immediately. Second possibility is the water pipe gasket just after the pump.

Also since you used radweld, complete head gasket job is in order. You could also sell the car if you don't want to invest money on it. Also the radiator may have become blocked now and also the thermostat could be the issue. Your mechanic will check and tell you exact repair needed.

Thanks, it runs pretty well, but obviously I'm a bit apprehensive at doing a run down to Devon (200 miles), or anything if it's just going to boil the entire way. I'll get it seen to, to be safe. I do have plans for it, and an intercooler upgrade and radiator replacement were already on the cards, I feel the latter, combined with a new pump and thermostat would probably solve all.
