Hiya,

First of all I know there's a lot of discussions/threads/blogs regarding this issue, but I was hoping that maybe I could get some model specific advice as I've had enough!

So I have a Grande Punto 1.3 Multijet and for the last few months it has made a slight knocking/squeaking noise when going over speed bumps or potholes. Recently however this has gotten a lot worse and now happens even over the smallest bumps. It sounds as if it's coming from the front right, but I've jacked the car up and basically just pulled at everything (on both sides) and can't find anything loose or that might be knocking when I drive. I have replaced the sway bar links but that hasn't made a difference and I can't find anything loose in the cabin, under the bonnet, etc.

I've noticed that once the car's been jacked up, the noise will go away the next time I drive it but then eventually comes back, presumably as the suspension settles again?

Sorry for the long post, just hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this to save me replacing anything else unnecessarily! I don't know a huge amount about cars so any suggestions are welcome :)
Thanks!

Yes lower swing arm bushes (powerflex) change fixed the same problem on my 1.3 multijet. Subsequent (3 years ago) changed all front bushes, lower swing arms, track rod ends and anti roll bar bushes and linkage to suspension. Also did all rear bushes. Absolutely no issues since and car handles like it’s on rails.

Thanks for your replies! Are these easy to remove and refit, and do you recommend doing both sides? Also is there an easy way to tell if these are the culprit or is it just a case of replace and see?

It was difficult to see and check, but an annual MOT noted perished bushes and corrosion on the swing arm on the drivers side. So whilst understanding how to do it on one side decided to also change all bushes and other swing arm a few weeks later. If you have Trolly jack, correct sockets, tools etc and a long cracking bar as nuts on everything we’re very tight even after spraying anti seizing spray on it, the front bush changes and lower swing arm were straight forward especially with information on this site and YouTube.
