Hi,

The diesel injection pump (high-pressure-pump) on my 2008 1.3 MJT is leaking a bit. I have tried to put some paper towels around it when driving and it seems like it is at the bottom of the pump.
Do any of you know if this could be an easy fix (e.g. a gasket that can be replaced) or if it is the whole pump that needs to be replaced?

Best regards
Daniel

You need to take it to someone who can see exactly where it is leaking from.
It may be a hose union or other component that may be possible to tighten up or you may need a new pump.

Please don't drive with a leaking diesel pump apart from fire hazard , diesel on the road can be DEADLY to people on two wheels.

Best wishes

Jack

May be the o-ring seals on the return pipes. Easy enough to replace. But repair this sooner rather than later not just because of the above mentioned hazard but because the diesel on the thermostat underneath will destroy the pipes and plastic housing

Thanks for the replies! (y)

The paper towels keep it from leaking on other pipes and the road. It seems like the leaking diesel is not coming from any of the diesel pump pipes.

But never the less, I have just blown the turbo. I was driving with 110 km/h and suddenly the engine revved to 5000 rpm and a thick white smoke came out of the exhaust. I turned off the ignition but the engine was still going with 5000 rpm. After about 30 sec the engine turned off.
So right now the car is not going anywhere. ;)

Besides the turbo and diesel pump, the A/C also needs to have changed a pipe and refilled it with coolant. So I am really considering putting the car to the grave, as the repairs properly exceed by far the value of the car. :(

I was going to Chip in and say they all do this, usually between the head and the pump, I think there is a larger seal that weeps, it’s usually only a tiny amount and not generally enough to warrant sorting out unless you’re really keen to get it done, but seeing as your engine just seemingly ate your turbo it seems more likely now you’ll be off to the scrap yard with it.
