So what can (and usually) go wrong in a gearbox (GB) ?
- synchro's
- bearings
- bent forks
All replaceable items: remove the GB, open, replace parts, close, re-install GB.
Other issues are:
- worn housing due to bearing seized: scrap the GB.
- broken gears/worn teeth: scrap the GB (£££ to replace)
- bent primary/secondary shaft: scrap the GB.
Gearboxes are not rocket-science, even the automatic, dual-clutches or robotized ones ! A decent mechanic WILL fix it !!
