Hi All,

Just got a few issues on my '07 1.2 Punto that i'm hoping someone will be able to help with.

Firstly, the driver's side window doesn't work. I've had a browse and seen that this could be due to a poor connection. What's the best way to go about fixing this?

Secondly, the heater only works on speed 4. Again, i've had a read and this seems to be a wiring issue. I'm not entirely sure on the best way to tackle it.

Third, the front wiper jets aren't working. When i pull the stick to activate them, i can hear the pump, but nothing is happening. There is fluid in the bottle, so im assuming that it may be just a blockage. What's the best way to unblock them? also, what could potentially be a different cause if unblocking doesn't work?

Finally, on acceleration there is an occasional rattling noise which to me sounds like the exhaust may be loose. However, i'm not good with engines, so just wondering if there could be another issue that is causing this?

Thank you in advance!

Always worth checking the guides:
1. highly likely the window is due to the door wiring. There's a weak point where the wiring passes between the door and the car body. To check this you have to pull back the rubber hose that is at the front of the door and check the wiring for breaks.

2. It;'s usually the resistor or the wiring, more rarely it can be the switch. Have a read here it shows you how to check the wiring: https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto-guides/344602-replace-heater-fan-wiring-loom.html

3. Follow the tube from the washer pump to check if it's broken and the water is just going somewhere else. If not then likely you have to unblock the washer jets. There's a guide about replacing them that gives you something to follow here: https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto-guides/348575-washer-jet-upgrade.html

4. Acceleration rattle is usually one of three things:
i. the black plastic air intake tube at the front right as you stand facing into the engine with the bonnet up has a rubber washer that wears. You can replace that fitting for ~£10 or use zip ties instead
ii. The front exhaust hanger which is where the front of the exhaust curves around by the sump rusts and breaks. I had that the problem. I measured my exhaust pipe and bought a replacement clip/hanger from ebay. You'll have to clean up the exhaust where the old fitting is with a file.hacksaw but it's a fairly easy fix
iii. the third possibility which can happen, there's a cross-brace at the back of the front subframe that is quite weak, it passes under the exhaust and can get bent if you drive over something. If that has happened then the exhaust can touch it when you accelerate. The fix is a simple pull by hand to straighten it out (it's quite thin metal and that's fairly easy to do)

Good luck, let us know how you get on
