my 2007 fiat GP sporting (1.4 16v bone stock) has jerky acceleration after 3.500 rpm hesitating a couple of times just before redline, getting more noticeable the higher the gear, although 1st gear usually feels normal, just so you know it isn´t a high mileage car (about 70.000 miles as we speak) and i´d like to know if you could help me solve that problem.

thanks in advance
Lucas.

How old are the spark plugs, coils and HT cables ?

BRs, Bernie.

i changed the spark plus when i got the car (68.000 miles) and for the plug wires and coils, unfortunately i do not know if they were replaced before due to 90% of the people in my country never having an official service record, i´ll get them changed eventually and will let you know

thanks
Lucas

mine unfortunately is a non t-jet (they were not sold in my country, although we did the the multijet) and yes, it´s been like that from before i bought it. although that doesn´t say much since i´ve driven it only for 2000 miles.

Have you run MES on it to see if any fault was stored ? You might find a redundant missfiring @ a specific cylinder ...

BRs, Bernie

My mistake. As Bernie said having the codes read might provide answers.
TBH Im a believer of servicing any new car that I get.
Plugs,air filter etc.
It might help if you were to take the air filter assembly off and give the throttle body a good clean. I use a toothbrush and can of carb cleaner.
You could also put a fuel system cleaner in the petrol tank.

BUT why would you want to push the car to the redline anyway?...

i´ll try to get myself a scan tool (although it is very unlikely that the previous owner might´ve hidden any codes)
and for red lining the car, i´ve only driven it hard once when i was in a desperate hurry, not going completely to the redline but shifting at about 6000rpm max, and overtaking on the highway once made me notice the hesitation on higher gears.

Its NOT being suggested that the previous owner 'hid' any error codes. What you are being asked is to check for any stored fault codes.
FYI Fiats can temperamental with generic fault code readers, preferring dedicated software,as Bernie referenced.
Any thoughts on my prior suggestions?..
