Hi everyone

Has anyone done a decat on the 1.9multijet turbo? Just wanna know if it's worth doing and if it will do anything performance wise. Will it do anything to noise also?

Thanks

Apart from failing emissions spectacularly and rendering the car invalid for an MOT for the next year, you'll get a little bump in power but now much without a remap and you'll hear a bit more turbo noise.

A car friend said I could just knock all the **** out from the cat but still actually keep the cat in so visibly you can still see it. As for the remap I've had mine done so that's no issue

As already stated, totally illegal to remove the cat now and could get you taken off the road in a VOSA road side inspection. Also will fail the MOT as visually it has to be present, they don’t even need to put it on a machine and check the emissions to fail it.

The amount of power you might gain is next to nothing and the 1.9 multijet can easily release more pony’s with a cost effective remap rather than doing multiple little tweaks

I thought on diesels they only do a smoke test or is that the same as the emissions test?

Thanks for the replies guys

Smoke test is if they can see smoke, which they 100% will if there's no cat. Then the emissions test is the concentration of CO2 present in the emissions, which will be more than double with no cat so it'll fail on that as well. There isn't really anyway to remove it completely and the power you would gain would not be worth them money. Also you might even need an additional remap to accommodate it, a remap isn't a one fix thing.
