TBH I have always thought that a car would run without an alternator running, not for long mind as its the alternator charging the battery.
So if the battery is fully charged the car should run...Happy to be wrong tho..:)

Yes that's exactly what happens car ran for couple hours with new battery. There is a fully charged battery in the car now so car starts and runs but I know not for long if I drive it.

OK..Im confused..its easily done...
Whilst the car was running you took the red/live lead of and it died?..
It would naturally stop as you have stopped providing power to the electrical system...
Im not saying your method was wrong, just dont understand it.
I know I have said it before but ill say it again.Go get a free test at Halfords..if you've now checked all the earths.

Just watched the video..guess that makes sense..id still go Halfords..BUT thats me.

If you watch the video though he takes the positive off the battery and his engine continues to run by the alternator. Mine doesn't do that it cuts out. Here's another video where you can clearly see he takes the positive cable off and engine runs.

I have a booking at Halfords on monday
