My wife has a 2009 Grande punto. When you turn the car ignition on, the hatchback open message comes up on the central screen, even though it’s not.
The message then disappears but the red door symbol stays on.
When locking the car with the key fob, all the doors lock, except for the front passengers door and the indicators flash multiple times to indicate a problem.
I have changed the tailgate latch mechanism, but this hasn’t fixed the problem.
Any ideas please?

Had related problem with erratic locking , found a wire damaged in the hatch loom feeding through the top of the hatch. It was making a weak contact, repaired the wire, all OK.

Hi
I've tried that too, but it was worse that the inner part of the micro switch in the locking device was totally chrushed in the closed position (It must have been a factory fault, it can't possibly happen under normal use, I replaced it with a switch from a PC mouse ), so there was no indication of an open tailgate, and a used-car "stealer" had "repaired" a missing light in the trunk by pulling out the lamp and throwing the cord into the hole for the lamp (I had to buy a new one from a FIAT-stealer (200dkr.! )).
