Hi everyone,

So the heater isn’t working on my 07 punto and I’m really puzzled as to what it might be. I had the resistor and loom problem about 8 months ago and had it fixed, but after not really using it a lot over summer and starting to use it more I noticed it wasn’t as powerful as usual and it slowly got weaker and weaker, until eventually it stopped working all together. I’ve had a look inside the blower to see if any leaves or rubbish have been clogging it but it was empty.

Does anybody know of any other reasons as to why the heater might pack in.

Many thanks, a very cold punto.

IF you have paid for a fix that hasnt worked try going back and asking for help etc...
Does the motor itself work?..Des the car get up to temperture ok?..Does the fan come on ?..stats ok?..how olds the coolant/antifreeze?...water pumps doing its job?...

I’ve had the water pump changed since the fix and it’s getting to temp fine I don’t really want to go back to the garage as I’d rather not spend more money on it if i can. It’s just like it slowly died it didn’t stop instantly so I don’t think it will be a fuse. Was just hoping if anybody has come across anything similar.

The way you are talking..

It it NOT a HOT air issue.. the coolant is HOT

Just an electrical supply issue... The interior fan isnt pushing the heated air around.. :(

Did you follow the GUIDES regarding the wiring.. ?

Personally I would use a £5 volt meter to see if the resistor pack is seeing a reliable 12v

If you have 12v that is great :)

Then remove the fan.. and feed it direct from the battery.. should spin easily

Let us know what you find

So no FLOW, can you feel some kind of heat (near the windscreen when in defrost mode) ?
If so the problem comes from the fan or its driving stuff, I'd follow Charlie's advice, they're often, if not always, good ;-)

So we are talking about interior FAN, not interior radiator. As guys said - put direct 12V to that fan. If it spins, then its ok and problem is with mentioned fan resistors module - typical issue on cars with manual clima where fan has 4,5 or 6 speeds. Solution - find broken resistor, solder it out, replace with new one. Or buy new whole resistors module

Typical bad contact: start almost ok, then the contact heats-up, get worst, heats even more and finally a good part of the power is absorbed in that bad contact so the air flow weakens to almost nothing. Check for a STRONG 12volts (use a bulb) between motor's pin 2 (Cyan wire) and Rotary switch's pin 5 (Black wire). If that is ok, check between motor's pin 2 and each other pins on the rotary switch to find a potential bad contact. If those are all ok, do the same with the resistor pack.
