Ever so often, when looking at OE parts, I come across phrases like "If delphi", "gearbox model: delphi", and other references to "delphi" when talking about parts compatibility for the same year and model of the GP (2008 1.2 petrol, in my case). I've seen it mentioned with the car stereo, the CV axles, gearboxes, and even lower control arms.

What is the difference between a "delphi" GP and non-delphi GP? How can you tell which you have?

Delphi is a manufacturer of components and parts. They make stuff as diverse as timing belts to power steering and electronic controllers. If you have MES (Multiecuscan) Electronic/electrical components can often be identified when you fire it up. Otherwise look for labels etc on the component itself or search spare parts on google which will often identify the part when you feed the regie number in to a search engine.

Good luck
