Hi all,
Just wanted to thank the forum in general for helping me get this done. I pretty much had to google every step of the way and this forum answered most of the questions.

I am adding a reversing camera to my daughters car (yes there is no real need for one, no she is not driving a truck etc etc etc). She has an xtrons android header unit with one of their reverse camera mods.

Looking around these cameras seem to be almost universal in the connectors they use. There is a long rca with a red power lead running through it and sticking out both ends (no need to use these). There is a power lead with red and black wires.

Fitting it took approx 2 hours for this mechanical dunce so anyone who knows what they are doing could probably pull it off in 45 mins.

To recap (most of this in in this forum)

Remove boot floor
undo 3 screws on plastic at back of boot
pull boot trim upward towards you
lift plastic trim up pulling 6 tension grips as you go
pop the grommet that is protecting a wire going into the rear bumper

undo screw nearest the reverse light
reach in twist the reverse bulb holder 45 degrees to release and pull out wire

earth = black
live = black/white

poke the power wire through from the boot to the bumper space through
the grommet. Reach into bumper space to grab it. (i spent a lot of time reaching into the bumper space from under the car)

Use 2 wire taps and attach the power lead to the reverse light (red - black/white / black to black)

Bingo.. you can now test the camera. Plug everything in together and run the RCA to the header unit. In the case of the xtrons there is a specific reverse cam-in lead so just plug in into there. Switch the ignition to the 1st turn (no need to fire up engine) and let the unit power up. Once live stick the car into reverse and the camera will kick in.

now we just need to get the camera into place above the number plate. I drilled 3 holes side by side to make a larger hole in the upside down shelf in the centre of the number plate. then fed the red (power) and yellow (rca) connectors through the hold into the bumper space.. and again crawled around under the car and reached into find them and then thread them through the grommet into the boot space. ta da!!

All that is left to do is the tread the RCA lead to the head unit. I fed this through the glove compartment to the head unit. Then into the top of the floor trim. There are two screws (Philips) to release and then you can slide the wire all the way to back seat... under this and into the side panel in the boot. No visible wire at any point. This bit was far easier than I thought it would be.

Now put everything back where it came from. Jobs a goodun

Finally attach the web can with some form of adhesive. Still working on the best for this.. will probably resort to epoxy resin as other methods have failed so far.

The most awkward part of the whole procedure is getting the reversing bulb in and out.. which genius came up with this design!!!!
