I have been asked if I will help a budding diy home mechanic to replace his damaged driveshaft.
I cant recall which side,if any tbh goes into the gearbox.Anyone advise please?..
Also if we go down the 2nd hand route and go to the breakers are they all the same?..
Thanks in anticipation for any input..:)

The left one goes in the gearbox, the right one has an intermediate shaft. This is done to avoid the "torque steering" due to inequal shaft lengths (actually their different angles). As for the compatibilty, I doubt they'd all be the same ...

It ended up being a bent track rod end and steering tie rod.
A faff to get to the inner securing clip,om the sleeve/boot/gaitor ..that much so that we disconnected the driveshaft,3 bolts, and wrestled the steering rack towards the passenger side. This gave us access to everything and then the job was relatively straight forward.

Parts to replace/repair were ....£3 from the local scrappys and I have been assured that the £141 he 'saved' would be spent on starting a tool set..

Happy days
