Hi,
when I got my grande punto, their were obvious signs of a previous fix to the heater resistor (it was hanging down in the footwell, and I found the old cut-off block in the back). Currently, I'm getting nothing on any setting, which is why I'm not sure whether mine's just the usual resistor issue.

I thought I'd check in here first though before I start taking things apart and looking at the blower motor to ask whether anyone might know why it was left like this, namely the wire with no destination:

nb. it's a 2009 Sporting/T-Jet

Thanks, certainly helps me get a better idea, although the colours (unless I'm missing something) don't particularly add up, at least not until I take a closer look a bit later and see exactly what's going into the motor, if anything

So, this chapter has finally come to and end, I finally found some time, took the heater blower motor out, got myself to Halfords and bought some 27amp wire. Fashioned two leads out of it, stuck them in the battery terminal to put a direct 12v into the motor, alas it was dead.
So I've just received a new one off ebay, run the same test to be sure and yes, LIFE! Reinstalled, stuck the heater resistor in the vent where it belongs and I now have hurricane force heat/cooling. Hilariously, the same day I actually ordered it, the window has slammed itself so hard it's come off the regulator, I've put it back for now and will have to be careful closing it until I buy a replacement one as I can't find a way to adjust it's ending/upper position - but that's something for another post..
