Now then folks. My daughters car is having a few hiccups and I'm hoping somebody can help.

Firstly, the red Airbag light is permanently on on the dashboard.

Secondly, every now and then the speedo and tacho needles drop to zero. no other symptoms they just drop off and then come straight back.

Thirdly, the indicators are a bit erratic. Slow flashing then normal then stop.

I've checked and cleaned all the earths in the engine bay. Battery volts is 12v at standstill and she fires up first time. I've also seperated and sprayed with contact cleaner into the connectors under the seats.

The car has been into the local garage for a service today and their diagnostic machine says there is No Communication with the airbag controller.

Everything else seems to work and the car runs fine.

Any suggestions from the worldly wise.

Cheers Derek

So I've made some progress with these problems.

The indicators were cured by spraying PCB/Contact cleaner in the bezel and operating the switch several times.

I then purchased a MultiECUScan kit and hooked it up to the ODB socket. Attached are a couple of screen shots. The intermittent internal error issue is a bit baffling. Also the dashboard/ IPC Can line errors.

I am going to try and access the airbag ecu and clean the connectors etc.

Can anybody point me in the right direction for these faults please. Do I need to replace the airbag ecu.
Cheers

All Sorted.

Sent Airbag ECU off to Crashdata and they reset/repaired the unit. Plugged back into car, cleared faults and now all is good

Thought I'd keep you updated

Thanks for the valuable information, we know now that crashdata might help some of us...

Cheers, Bernie
