Hello all.

I have had intermittent problems with car recently. It has become harder to start (has to be cranked at least 10 times). Runs smooth once started.

Have had other problems in the past:
1. Coolant temperature sensor used to max out for a second then reset stopping the engine
2. Difficult to start after being sat over a day

Recently:
1. Throttle body butterfly valve goes crazy when trying to start (vibrating)
2. Car no longer starts at all (no fuel pump even). Immobiliser light stays on.

Feels like it may have now come down to the ECU.

Battery is fine, all earths have been cleaned, fuse box has been removed and cleaned.

I don't understand over the last few days the car has gone from poor to dead.

Any advice for the next steps?

Your going to have to get the fault codes read...

Hi.

Worth adding s 2nd main earth cable.

Does the 2nd key have same effect?

Have added multiple main earth cables with starter leads.
I unfortunately don't have a second key.

Could just be the key chip.

See if Timpsons.. or an autolocksmith can read it ok

Hi Kris. If it has gotten worse over time, it is wear and tear, blockage or corrosion, so not the key. Make sure all hoses, air filter, butterfly etc are clean.
