Spark plug ignition lead connections

Hi,

Hopefully an easy one to answer for those in the know. I'm just wanting to check the order in which the Spark plug ignition leads should be connected on a Fiat Grande Punto 2006 1.4.

Firstly, I presume the left most spark plug connects to the left most plug on the ignition coil pack, the second from the left to the second left most plug on the coil pack and so forth?

Secondly I noticed that two spark plug ignition leads out of the set of four have longer connectors (the wide part at the end that connects to the spark plug), the the other two ignition leads having shorter connectors. Why is this? Does it matter which spark plug the two ignition leads with the longer wide connectors are connected to?

Hope that makes sense!

Re: Spark plug ignition lead connections

Its exactly as you say. Eveything :-) What I cannot confirm right now is if cables with "longer connector" are going to sparx 2 and 3 , or 1 and 4. I dont have car here - but on original wires are numbers for each position:

Thanks for the responses and the link to the Youtube video, looking at that video at around 7.00 mins it appears to show the connectors with the longer wide parts in sparks 2 & 3.

I'm still not sure why all the ignitions leads don't have the same connectors to the spark plugs?

The picture in Step 3 of this guide with the leads numbered 1 to 4 looks to confirm that

I'm also puzzled by the longer connectors in the middle...

Thanks very much, that image of the spark plugs is excellent and as you say confirms the ordering.
