Hello. I'm new here and this is my first post. I've searched for an answer to my problem but haven't found a solution.

My standard fit Blaupunkt Stereo in my 2006 Grande Punto 1.2 powers on. I can select radio stations, insert CDs, and the steering wheel controls work too. Unfortunately I'm getting no sound from the speakers.

Does anyone know what steps I can go through to figure out the exact problem? I'm inclined to think that it's not that the speakers have blown because that would mean ALL 4 had blown which seems unlikely? Is there a separate fuse that could have blown for the speakers?

Any help would be really appreciated. I've been without music in my car for nearly a year and it's driving me crazy ha ha [emoji12] 20190105_230416.jpeg

No, I bought the car in haste and didn't check the stereo. But within a couple of days of buying the car I realised the stereo didn't work.

Edit: worth mentioning I didn't buy the car new, I bought it last year.

If I'm not wrong there are two connectors at the back, one for the control signals (CAN) and power and the other for the speakers. Maybe the second one is disconnected ??
There is only one fuse involved.

Thanks Nikrox. I haven't tried it with an Aux cable yet but it was always my plan to put one in. I hadn't thought of trying it with this unit, I'll give it a go! [emoji106]

I suppose buying another unit is an option. Looks like I might have to do that.

Bernie, I checked both connections and they're fine. This thing is a real mystery. I wish there were some simple tests I could carry out to isolate the problem.

hi,

Your problem could come from many sources.
Bad connections, blown speaker, blown internal amplifier IC, could the former owner have removed an external amplifier and leave open connection.

You should remove your headunit and find a schema like this:

Disconnect the speaker plug and read the resistance from speakers side ( not the radio) with a multimeter.
Speakers are OK if yor read something like 4ohm or 8ohm for each LR, LF, RR, RF.

The fuse is ok, otherwise you could not turn it on.

in my opinion the internal amplifier is fried, but you could do some tests with other speaker that you are sure it works.

Good Luck, :)

The single most obvious thing would be to check there are speakers.

Many people fit their own and then when they sell the car they pull there speakers out again, throw the original head unit back in and sell it.

It can be quite expensive for a dealer to replace OEM speakers at £20 - £30 per speaker so they don’t bother.
