Hello, I am going to buy a dashcam soon and I am planning a way to hardwire it. I would like to know how easy it is to remove the airbag panel next to the windscreen and how to avoid triggering the airbag while running cable through the panel. My car is a 2007 Grande Punto
Regards

Not sure you'll have to dismount the dashboard, back of glove box and trim channels should be enough to run the tiny cables.
Anyway, to avoid airbag triggering one have to disconnect the battery and use an ESD wrist. The airbag itself must be stored in a safe place (and out of reach from children) with "active" side free of anything.
When reconnecting the battery once the airbag(s) are back in place, nobody should be in the car ! The same is true when working around seatbelt tensioners, all those devises use pyrotechnic stuff (explosive) and are potentially lethal !!

BRs, Bernie

To the two answers above, he’s not asked about removing the dash. The A pillar trim (windscreen) has an airbag warning light where curtain bags are fitted but the airbag is not behind that trim.

The trip is clipped in place so you can either carefully pull the trim off and route your cables or tuck the wires between the trim and the glass to hide them away. The should not interfere with the airbag and you don’t need to do anything special to prevent triggering the airbag.
