Anyone know why since I’ve changed my side lights to led the warning message and light comes on telling me to check them? They work fine. I have a 08 1.4 fiat grande Punto eleganze. Cheers all, could be simple but I’m new to this.

I think the system that checks if a bulb has failed checks the electrical resistance passing through the bulb an LED will have a different resistance probably less than a normal bulb so this is probably why you are getting the warning. Not sure if there is a simple way round this problem

Cheers mate, guess I might have to stick to the original ones

You get the idea, but let me do some corrections:

- the system checks what CURRENT goes thru the bulb(s)
- it probably checks several bulbs on the same line
- if less total current than expected flows, BCM (Body Control Module or "the system") will throw a warning asking to look for faulty bulb in that line

A LED drains less current (its apparent resistance is higher) than a bulb so is detected as a bad bulb. The fix is to add an external resistor in // with the LED so the total current will be the same (or close) of what the bulb was draining.
Be aware though that this resistor will have to be a power type since it will dissipate a few watts (in heat), typically 80% of the original bulb power ...

BRs, Bernie
