Over tge last few days my 06 1.2 grande punto has developed this most annoying knocking/banging from the front passenger side of the car when I'm going over bumps or uneven roads mainly at lower speeds.

I can't feel anythjng in the steering wheel really when its happening but weirdly if my hand is on the gear stick I'm sure I can feel it through that. Generally the steering and tracking feels fine.

I don't know anything about cars at all but I've tried pulling about on the suspension spring and shock to see if that moves about and it doesn't. The inside wheel arch was loose but ive tightened that up and the knocking is still happening.

Any ideas before I spend money trying to get a diagnosis?

Droplink....goes from the anti roll bar to the suspension strut.

Thanks, does this make the car dangerous to drive as i can't get it to the garage until mid next week but need to use it before then.

if it is indeed a failed droplink it will be safe to drive for a while, will just knock like you've noticeed. I would get it sorted asap tho.
Are you a diy mechanic,like me?..its a relatively quick job.An hour max..
I would buy the best you can afford..MYLEE I think its spelled or Lemforjer have never given me any problems on various cars over the last 35 years or so..
Where are you based?

Absolutely agree. This is by far the most likely culprit. Can be quite difficult to find because the antiroll bar often puts enough preload on it that you can't feel the play.

However my boy rang me up earlier in the year describing exactly the symptom as you describe it IAFYM so I guessed at it being the drop link - didn't actually see the car, it lives on the other side of the city - and didn't feel too concerned either. When he finally let me get my hands on it about two weeks later, it was actually the track rod end! We were very lucky to get away with that one, it actually fell to pieces (ball end separated from it's socket) as I was dismantling it!
