Just picked up a Punto today.

Had a read of various threads but none say that their fan runs at the lowest speed only.

Was hoping it was a resistor pack but as I've read the climate control versions don't appear to have one.

Any pointers would be appreciated. I've not had a look under the dash yet.

Thanks in advance.

I've had a quick look tonight, there are 3 wires on the loom that go the blower motor area. What I presume is power as there are only 2 wires going into the motor look fine. The other 2 connectors are warped/show signs of burning. What are they plugged into? Whatever it is looks removable and replaceable so might try that, would ordinarily raid the scrap yard but I'm guessing they'll all pretty much be the same. I've seen a repair 'kit' on ebay for £35 but it just looks like the wires rather than any sort of components?

Any help appreciated.

I cannot unplug the connector block (from heater blower fan)
Might it have fused on because of heat??
Are there tags to release it or a screw??

I have Bernie. It seemed to relate to non CC version of the system. Will get the fan off and go from there. Was hoping it was a resistor issue but there isn't a traditional manual type one.

The regulation module (M072) receives a PWM signal from the Climate Controler and outputs a proportional voltage to the motor ...

- measure the voltage at the motor (connected)
- measure (o'scope) the PWM signal

Both should vary as the CC requests more fan power (demist)

- if only the PWM varies, the regulation module is kaputt
- if none vary, the CC is at fault
- if both vary, the motor needs investigation

BRs, Bernie

Thanks for all the help. It's now fixed so thought I'd give an update.

After an unsuccessful trip to the scrap yard, 7 grande puntos there all but one had the heater fan missing already and the remaining one was not climate control I bought a new fan and resistor off an eBay breaker. My resistor had a burnt PIN and the connector was burnt and disintegrating so I've soldered another one in. Plugged new fan in and it worked so not sure if it was the fan or the resistor but verynhaply to fix for £25.

Thanks for the update East Beast, job well done !

BTW: was it finally a resistor or an electronic module ?

Cheers, Bernie
