Okay so I have had my car (active77bhp) for 6 months now and all fine! Until I got my brake discs and pads changed at f1 auto centres. Now my car badly pulls to the left! Even on roads that used to be straight for me now I have to quarter turn the wheel to the right to be straight! I went back to them and they said they can’t see anything wrong. So I got my tracking done and he said it’s 100% straight but still the same! Help please!

Welcome to the forum

Did you get your tracking checked at the same place that did your brakes?
Sounds to me like they broke or bent something when changing the brakes ... difficult to do but not impossible.

No I got the tracking done at another garage as a didn’t trust them after that, I really don’t know what it is plus I have a 200 mile motorway trip soon!

When they checked the tracking did they also check the rear wheels? Possible with the ice we've add recently that one of the rears may have hit a kerb and bent something causing the pull. Whatever the case, something is out of whack - I'd be looking for a 3rd opinion.

I’m gonna go quick fit I think

Next time you are driving.. with everything up to temperature.

Find a quiet road that is level.. or slightly up hill.

Try and coast to a stop.. no hard braking.!

Stop engine. Handbrake on.

Walk around the car .. feel the temperature of the tyre sidewall and wheel bolts ( the 4 in the centre of the wheel :) )
On all 4 wheels anything that feels HOT is not good.

The fronts might be marginally hotter than the rears.. but left and right pairs should be identical.

I bet Charlie gave the solution, left caliper/pads stuck ...

Could also be the left bearing having bad days (or too tight !!), if so it's not going to get any better ...

I wonder if one calliper is coming on quicker than the other , perhaps it was rusted when they pushed it back in and now it's slow to come out ? I say this because when I changed disc and pad on my Doblo van one calliper was badley rusted and while it was very reluctant to push back I could have possibly oiled it up and forced it back in but decided it would be much safer to replace both callipers as the braking system is the most important part of a vehicle.
