I probably ought to apologize before I start because this is actually about a 2012 Punto. However I notice that this thread attracts a lot more views than the Punto 2012 one and anyway they are very similar cars.
My boy told me some time ago that, in the couple of years he's owned it he's never heard the cooling fan run! (2012 1.4 8 valve Punto) Actually when I renewed the cam belt/water pump etc half way through last year I remember that I never managed to get the fan to run when I was bleeding it out. Anyway, when he was down for me to fit the new LED rear light assembly the other day I plugged in MES and tried the fan actuation. It runs fine at fast speed but not a chirp out of it at slow speed. I think there is a separate relay for fast and slow speeds, and, low down on the radiator cowl, a big resistor. So I suppose it could be either of these or maybe just a broken wire? Is there a known weak component? or do I just need to get my multimeter out and grovel around?
