I was in a breakers last weekend and got a MAP sensor off a car..it was free and cured the rough starting issues that have plagued the car since it was bought last June..

Quick look on ebay..£9 upwards and thats new.

Pretty sure was a garage up your Way called F.A.S T.

They will have the correct kit.. but an £8

OBD reader will get you started.

Get a code.. then SEARCH it on here.

Obd is a STANDARD .. but it was VAG that developed it for the US .. and it then became international.

The codes tend to have VAG meanings attached.. wheres other manufacturers can differ.. hence the need to relate the codes meaning to YOUR CAR

OBD reader and MES, will tell you what the ECU computes from the info it receives from the sensors, not the ACTUAL values !
Say you'd be reading 100°C air temp; it could be either the sensor OR the wiring/connection: only an ohm-meter would tell with 100% certainty ...
BTW the water coolant sensor has similar curves (NTC)

I'm afraid if it's out of your reach, you'll have to open your wallet ;-)

Again too far for me to help but I have concluded it's the MAP/Air temp sensor on mine as again it wouldn't start this morning at -4 C outside.
I have multi ECU scan and again checked readings and 100deg air temp. So I took the sensor out (easy job) and cleaned it as it was covered in oil/ mayo. Didn't make any difference however.

Car starts and runs with it disconnected however and once it has run for a minute it is okay when you reconnect the sensor.

I got about 0.15 ohms in my cool garage so definitely U/S

Just to say I changed the MAP/temp sensor and all is now okay.
