Recent purcháse Grande . 07 mj.

Had a bulb out message :lamp.

Sure enough.. the number plate lamps were only 50/50

Swapped the BULB with my other Grande..

Plate now 100% illuminated.. but have a 50/50 chance of the bulb indicator being lit.

SO:

Have got ALL stalk operated light functioning..even boot light.

Only exception.. ZERO heater panel lights..

However.. the same situation with the other mj.. but no warning lights.

I had the issues with the mk2 of the taillights being unusual spec.. are the grande similar ?

Hi Charlie, my guess is that the BCM checks what current is actually drawn versus what it should be, probably in a few different scenari, BUT it wouldn't tell where the discrepancy comes from, it just sums all drawn mAmps regardless of who's it's sent to and do the maths: between tolerance: all clear, out of tolerance: "lamp" error ...

Does it make sense ??

Cheers, Bernie

Minor update..

It transpires there WAS a blown bulb.:(

The Red lail lamp uses 2 bulbs..

a large ( stop and tail size )

A small glass dome (style from the old tipo)

It was the small one that was out :(

Changed it.. no issue.:)

But :
Whenever I switch on the lights.. I get the yelllow bulb warning

However.. this stays on until ignition turned off.

My recollection of older systems..
Light went off when offending light was switched off.

Eg. Brake light bulb issue only flagged the warning with foot on brakes.

Why is this different?

( the glovebox doeasnt seem to be illuminated.. is this on the lighting circuit?)
