Hi Guys,

I have 2006 GP 1.4 8v, 5 door and suddenly my driver side (RHD) power window stopped working.
at first I noticed the automatic mode was not functioning properly and then after sometime the window stopped working time to time.
when i open and close the door it worked and stays for few days and now completely stopped.

I checked the fuse in the engine compartment and it is good. didn't check the boot fuse box as it's for rear windows.
Also i have replaced(one at a time) and checked both window switch panel and the regulator motor with a working parts (my friends car) and it was the same. So i assumed the issue is with wiring.

Then I removed the rubber grommet between the door jam and door and checked for damaged wires and couldn't find any. didn't check thoroughly by end to end by wire though.

Is there any way to check pin to pin connectivity and test both switch and the motor with multi meter?

Hi.
My MJ has this issue.. but thankfully on the passenger door.. so 2 switches control it.

Mine is almost certainly wiring..

It IS a common failing.. so should be more info on the forum.

Could well be that the cable has failed internally from all those years of flexing

Testing..

Can be performed with a metal blade into the wires sheathing ;)

Shallow angle @45'

Meter then gets a reading through the blade

My pleasure Bob !

If you got the high trim version here's the correct drawing, though pin numbers regarding the motor are the same as for low trim, the "master" switches are quite different ...

Kind regards, Bernie

ps: those are for 3 doors only !!

Hi Bernie,

The culprit was a broken wire right after the rubber grommet inside the door. took me couple of hours of testing the switch panel and window motor, then removed the entire wiring loom from the door. Should have done that in the first place as this a very common issue with GPs

Soldered together and everything's working fine now.
Thanks for the help mate.

Regards,
bob.
