Had a call from my wife this morning trying to get to work in our Grande Punto 1.4, 2009. She'd pulled up safely off road after getting ABS warning and loss of rev counter and temperature gauges all in one hit. Whilst parking it she noticed the power steering had packed up too. Turned it off on again and all lights fine now.

It feels like a common cause, bad connection to me? Anyone suggest the first place to look?

Not had this before, though tbh we've been ignoring the 'power steering not working' occasional message on start up for years, as it plainly always was! Only other fault is occasional short screech on startup or pull away, which sounds like a fan belt, but understand it might be the starter motor low battery voltage thing? Be surprised if it was this in this case though as the fault this time happened a good 10 miles into the journey and it's not particularly a cold morning.

Ideas?

Hi iannay,

Check your battery condition. same thing happened to me 4 mnts back and changed the battery and now all okay.
also as Charlie said, check your earthing points too.
