I was wondering if anyone might have experienced a similar problem. About two weeks ago I was driving, went to change up a gear and the engine completely cut out and the steering warning light came on. At the side of the road the engine failed to turn over but the electrics all came on. Called out the AA and he couldnt work out the issue, but he ruled out steering and fuel pump problems. He got it started but couldnt work out how. on the drive to the mechanics the fuel pump light turned on a few times, each for a few seconds, the tempurature gauge also maxed out a few times for a few seconds each. The first mechanics I went to none of them had a clue. Its currently at an electrical specialist and he cant work it out either. There is no obvious cause for why the engine cuts out, why the warning lights turn on, or why the engine starts some times and not other times. Any help will be really appritiated. It is an 07 1.2 Active Fiat Grande Punto 8v. Thank you in advance!

Hi,
Welcome to Fiat Forum. Sounds like the well known corroded battery / earth lead problem. The lead(s) from battery to chassis and or engine to chassis corrode internally giving a sorts of issues. Get the garage to check then carefully.
