Can someone tell me an easy way of changing the starter motor on 2008 Grande Punto 1.2 diesel, I can get to one bolt but the other is out of sight and impossible to get a socket on it, well it is for me, I have no pit or car hoist just axle stands. Any help would be gratefully received.

Looking at the image on eper, it looks like it's only 2 bolts.

I presume it's the one on top that you've got, so it looks like the one below goes in the opposite direction. I don't have a 1.3 myself, but - having done a starter on a 1.4 mk2b Punto, I'd have thought this should be easier in terms of access (larger bay). You'll have to do it from below, but axle stands should be sufficient. If not, you'll likely have to take it to a garage...

Seems that the first (upper) bolt requires only a screwdriver ... and is removed from the top.

BRs, Bernie

I shall take it to a garage, had enough of being on my back under this car, who ever designed this wants their bumps felt

Can you tell me what the bolt size is that holds the starter in place

one of the bolts is through the bell housing of the clutch, you literally have to get a socket into a hole on the side of the clutch housing, I can't remember what size it is now its been a long time since I did it, maybe 13mm -15 mm at a push, either way it can be done laying under the car on the drive way.
