Hi guys,

I have a 08 Grande Punto and it has the climate control unit with the digital display.

I have no power to the unit at all, I have replaced it thinking it was the unit itself but it's not, so I have no heating, screen demisting or anything right now.

I'm guessing there must be a fuse somewhere for it that's blown? Where about's would I start looking? had a quick Google but can't seem to come up with anything.

Merry Christmas!

Mark

Hi Mark,

the climate control unit is powered from the distribution box in the engine bay, it's fed by relay T6 though fuse F24 and also by F38 as per attached drawings...

Merry Christmas too !!

I haven't got around to checking yet, as luck would have it, not only is the Punto full of damp/mould after being sat most of this winter which I have started trying to clean up, but the fuel pump has gone on my Corsa too.

Cars eh? lol

Hi Mark,

the Grande and the Corsa being sisters I bet they use a very similar electrical design, so here you got the drawing regarding the fuel pump ... As usual, fuse, relay, inertia switch and ground are all good candidates if no power arrives to the pump ...

In a rush I ordered a new pump motor for the Corsa, but this morning before starting to swap it out I pulled the fuse and put it back in, and TADAAAA! starts fine haha.

Tried the same on the Punto trying to get the climate control unit working but I wasn't gonna be that lucky a 2nd time around and it's still dead. TBH the whole car is suspect, it was a on the spot, tired, stressed out from looking around buy, and I should have totally avoided it. Mechanically it seems fine, just the electrics are a whole different matter.

Ill leave it dead and just clean it up inside and try to get a few hundred quid for it on eBay.

Thanks guys and a happy new year!

Mark

It's a bit more than that, I shouldn't have bought the car really cause it was a mess.

What's left fault wise, apart from the plastic warped trims in and around the car is the climate control no power, driver window not working, rear door completely jammed shut and the auto box sometimes throws up a fault. It's already been stuck for a few days before cause it wouldn't start because it was stuck in gear even though display showed neutral. Garage who had it said it threw up a ton of faults on the diagnostic check.

So if it is moisture in the electrics it might be widespread. Which it could be cause the car seems to get quite damp/condensation inside even after only 1 day/night.

It's just a poor buy on my part, nice cars though, I thought it drives really nice. I've had Ducati motorcycles before and should have known to stay clear of Italian electronics haha.

Still really sound like well known earth/ground issue, beside the warped trims o.c. ;-)

Not the very best time of the year to sell a car though, might be intersting to bring it in a dry vented place untill spring and invest a minimum of time to check the basics, a TON of error codes as your garage said is less likely to happen without a common reason ...

Cheers, Bernie

Hi all - I have the exact same problem. Climate controle console not powering up, I tried 2 other units from junk yard and they don't power up. All fuses and relays are ok. The unit receives power from the car, as measured on the input cables (12.xV from input terminal 30 to ground on 40) . I do have error code U1710-87 ACM (Automatic Climate Module) On B CAN - Missing Message.
I have no clue how to continue troubleshooting ... it seems the car cannot talk to the climate control module anymore, which suggest an electrical problem, right? I already checked all the cables that I can easily reach to, nothing abnormal, all grounds seem clean and strong ...
