Hi there to all,

I wanted to know about a situation I.e

Hypothetically speaking,

My grande punto remote controller key is on the seat of my car or anywhere, and it locks itself up/auto lock and I can’t access the spare key for a week.

How can I open the car and have my keys back ?

How the car immobilizes itself ?


My one friend drives an i20 and told me, that Incase we lock the car using the key and if someone tries open the car from the inside it would sound the alarm.

I don’t think anything like this is in fiat cars, I have done that a few times moving out and left my mother locked inside, because she wanted to stay in and for her safety i lock her using the key, but many times she has stepped out and the car works just fine.

Could someone share some knowledge about this ?

Just was thinking, I read some people writing weird but interesting answers like one chap, wrote about a Maruti Suzuki SX4, to lift the car from the driver side using a jack and drilling a bit to access the boot latch.

Since just was willing to know what can I possibly do, just Incase am in such a trouble.

I can tell you as it happend to me ,setting off for work one day stared the car then realised I had left my sandwiches in the house,I got out the car shut the door and all doors locked on there own ,so the engine is running and I don't have a spare key, place both hands on the back door window glass and slide the window as much as it will go downward and you will find it comes down just enough to get a knife under the top of the glass to force the window down,my car has manual rear winding Windows which is good because I don't think this method will work with electrically operated ones,now I never fully close the door if I have to get out and leave the keys inside.

Call me old fashioned, but are you sure you lot really want to give out idea's on gaining entry to vehicles without using keys ?

I totally understand what you mean, I’d be honest, I was thinking about it right after I finished posting this.

There are a lot of happy GP drivers, no one would want it gone from he/she parked it.


Well, I wouldn’t delete this post, I hope the admins won’t as well.

Just so when people will read this, they wouldn’t ever forget keys in the car.

From what I have seen on crime programme on TV most theives don't go to all this trouble to gain access to a vehicle,they just smash one of the windows.

I agree Micheal.
Most go thru the window or enter the house for the car keys.
But personally I wouldn't discuss what tools to use to smash the window or how to gain entry to a premises on an open forum.
