Hello,

Have an 06 1.2 Grande Punto. Issue I have is a the check engine light coming on, code is 0115. From reading other posts I am thinking coolant sensor which if I have understood correctly just screws into the thermostat housing which although difficult to get to should not be too hard.
It is intermittent and seems to only come on when starting after the car has sat overnight. There are no other issues with starting and the engine runs fine and the temperature gauge doesn't show hot. Is changing the sensor the the best first step? Thanks Graham

Hi,
It's worth checking the ground leads between the battery, engine and chassis as these can cause weird problems when they corrode internally. Sensor is cheap enough though.

Thanks Robert, I will check that. The issue has changed slightly, start car from cold, says something about temperature (I wasn't driving so not sure), light stays on, fan cuts in and stays on for about a minute after turning off, try again same thing happens. Opened and closed coolant expansion tank (for no real reason just did!) restart car it then said "excessive coolant temperature" or something similar briefly but light didn't come on and neither did the fan. I guess this gives further weight to a dodgy coolant sensor?

I can hardly Believe that people keep on trying various things while the answer has already been given many time …

Install a battery jump cable between the battery negative port and the gearbox and another between the gearbox and the car's body, this simple to do test will rule-out any roten earth cable …

BRs, Bernie
