Hi all,

'06 GP 1.2 8v

A few days ago while sitting in very slow / not moving traffic for about 30 minutes, I noticed my temp. gauge was around three quarters of the way up and climbing.

Panicked a bit and managed to get off at the next slip road, and once I was moving again the car cooled down almost instantly.

Do you think it could be the radiator fan not kicking in? I don't think I've ever really heard it kick in and I've had the car for a year and a half. Are these easy to change/test? Will dig out the Haynes manual and have a look this afternoon - any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Simple way that I use is to let the car idle whilst its sat in a safe place ..10/15 minutes should let you know either way.

Thanks all for the help so far,

Haven't had a chance to go out yet but I've been digging in the Haynes manual.

Anyone know which relay in the fuse box controls the fan?

And no Air-con Bernie!

Cheers :)

no air-co, then it's a single speed fan … here's the drawing.

BRs, Bernie

Hi all, been out to have a look at the relays and fuses today and I'm a little confused as to which relay needs inspection. I've attached a picture of my fuse box, it seems to me like I have relays in the mid speed etc, which I'm not sure is right considering I don't have air con?

I changed a couple around and now I have a canbus light on my dashboard, is this related? All relays are back where they originally were so a bit confused...

There is one missing though, could this be my culprit?

Thanks all

Problem sorted,

We moved the relay circled (was in the low speed setting which thanks to Bernie I learned I didn't need) to the high speed one that was shown in Bernie's diagram.

Fan is now kicking in when hot :D

Pic attached - Problem solved?!

Still have the CANBUS error light but that's for another day :slayer:

Bedankt voor alles Bernie!

Ok so it turned out the bulb error light was in fact my brake light that just happened to go when I was messing with the relays! Typical!
