Hello folks, will a 1.2 8v gearbox from say a 51 plate Punto fit a 2006 Grande 1.2 8v Punto or are there differences to stop me?

Getting a replacement gearbox for a Grande seems a bit steep, but the older Puntos (MK2) are more plentiful.

Ta in advance

Why would you replace your gearbox, do you know they can be refurbished ?

Anyway, if you need to, be aware that there have been lot of different version on the 1.2s, the casing look the same but the internals might be quite different. i.e. they have implemented various new types of synchro, pre-synch etc.
There are also variations in the final (differential) ratio to suit the CF4 (euro4) specs between MK2s and GPs. Finally if the donor is (was) an originally LPG (methane) equipped car, the ratio would again be a different one …

To make it short I'd say it would fit, but you might have some surprise when using the car … Have a look on the Drawings/parts number from ePer.

BRs, Bernie

Yes it fits,I put a 1.2 Mk2b box in a 1.2 GP and it also dropped the revs by 500revs in top gear at 70mph. The GP end mounting has 3 bolts going left to right, and 1 up and down, which the Mk2b hasn't,so you can tell the difference. But it does fit and work.
